The PASC program consists of six core courses that provide a comprehensive foundation in school leadership and administration. Below is a brief description of each course:
1. EDA 631: Visionary Leadership
This course focuses on developing a leader’s capacity to articulate a clear, compelling vision for a school’s future. Candidates will learn how to inspire stakeholders and foster a shared commitment to improving student outcomes and promoting equity.
2. EDA 632: Professional Learning
In this course, candidates explore strategies for building a culture of continuous improvement within schools. They will learn how to design and implement professional development that aligns with school goals and enhances teacher effectiveness.
3. EDA 633: Instructional Leadership
This course equips candidates with the tools to improve teaching and learning in schools. It covers curriculum development, instructional strategies, and data-driven decision-making to support student achievement and instructional effectiveness.
4. EDA 634: Management of Learning Environment and Ethics
Candidates in this course focus on the operational aspects of school leadership, including budgeting, facilities management, and creating safe and supportive learning environments. Ethical decision-making and leadership in diverse school settings are key components.
5. EDA 635: Facilitating Teacher Growth
This course emphasizes the role of the school leader in fostering teacher development. Candidates will learn how to provide effective feedback, conduct evaluations, and support teachers through coaching and mentoring to drive instructional improvement.
6. EDA 636: Education Policy, Systems, and Community Leadership
In this course, candidates examine the broader policy environment affecting schools, including local, state, and federal education laws and regulations. They will explore how to engage families and the community to build partnerships that enhance school success.
