About the Program
The Mental & Behavioral Health and Apprenticeships (MBHA) program is committed to building and sustaining strong mental health and wellness systems across school districts to ensure that students receive the support they need to thrive.
Our goal is to empower districts with the resources and knowledge they need to build sustainable mental health and wellness systems that make a lasting impact on students, families, and communities.
Pathways for Grantees
As part of its mission, MBHA offers
recruitment and retention scholarships for school counselors, school social workers, school psychologists, and school nurses. These scholarships are possible through two groundbreaking initiatives aimed at enhancing mental health services within our community: the
School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) Grant and the
Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration Grant (MHSPD). The scholarships can be used to cover tuition, repay school loans, and help with cost of living expenses, making it easier for professionals to enter and stay in these critical roles.
In addition to financial support, MBHA provides numerous
opportunities for professional development in collaboration with leading professional organizations such as the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), the California Association of School Counselors (CASC), the School Social Work Association of America (SSWAA), and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), among others. These opportunities allow grantees to stay updated on best practices and further enhance their skills in serving students and their communities.
