Real Work. Real Pay. Real Future.

Apprenticeships Overview

The Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) Educator Prepartion Programs (EPP) offers innovative apprenticeship pathways designed to open doors for future educators and wellness professionals. These
earn-and-learn programs combine paid, hands-on experience with college coursework, giving participants the opportunity to grow their skills, gain credentials, and build meaningful careers while serving their communities.
From
   Early Learning and
   Special Education teaching to
Wellness Coaching, each apprenticeship is carefully designed to meet workforce needs while supporting participants every step of the way. High school students, individuals with no prior college experience, and those with partial college units can explore different career pathways through SCCOE’s apprenticeship programs.

We work with each participant to determine the right entry point, ensuring personalized guidance and support. Along the way, participants benefit from mentorship, hands-on training, and the opportunity to earn certifications that prepare them to transition smoothly into long-term careers in education and wellness.

Catalyst Initiative

For Childcare Providers, Educators, Workforce Boards, Labor Unions, Advocacy Groups, and Community Organizations in the Bay Area.

The
   Catalyst Initiative, led by the
Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE), is a
regional consortium dedicated to expanding access to affordable, high-quality childcare and early childhood education (ECE). Through partnerships with county agencies, labor, education, and community organizations, the program focuses on strengthening job quality and career pathways for the ECE workforce, expanding subsidized childcare during non-traditional hours, and embedding equity and climate resilience into childcare services.

Currently a one-year planning grant,
Catalyst is laying the groundwork for a five-year implementation plan. This includes creating multi-county steering and advisory committees, conducting a shared landscape analysis of childcare and workforce supports, and developing a funding resource matrix to align investments. By supporting providers—especially Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) and Family Child Care Homes (FCCH)—with professional development, wage progression, and shared resources, Catalyst aims to improve stability for the largely women- and BIPOC-led workforce while ensuring families gain greater access to flexible, high-quality childcare.
