Conference Overview

The 14th annual Marion Cilker Conference for Arts in Education occurred on Friday, November 3rd, at San Jose State University. The conference featured one day of professional development, engaging around 200 pre-service and in-service teachers. The workshops exemplified racial equity, social justice, and culturally responsive learning. This conference is co-sponsored by Lurie College of Education at San Jose State University and the Santa Clara County Office of Education.

Thanks For A Successful 2023 Cilker Conference!

Thanks to our volunteers, presenters, and participants for making the 2023 Marion Cilker  Conference for Arts in Education a success!  Thank you to Dr. Mary Ann Dewan and Dean Heather Lattimer for their warm welcome words at the Opening Session at 8:30 a.m. Thank you to Tshaka Campbell for his inspirational keynote.  He underscored the importance of teachers as dream-makers. The presenters offered engaging opportunities for art-making. Sessions were joyful, creative spaces. Finally, thank you to the crew of volunteers, the SJSU tech team, the SCCOE Media and Communications team, and the Cilker Committee for making this event possible.
