-
Can any teacher apply for an ArtsEdConnect Grant?
Yes, with some conditions:
- The teacher must work in a public school or charter school in grades PK-12 with the approval of their principal.
- The district must also allow participation in the ArtsEdConnect Grant.
-
I and a group of teachers want to go in together on an arts projects. Should we apply separately or together? Each of us has one class each.
- To save effort you can apply together. The form has a clear way to do that.
-
Can we buy computer hardware, software or computer licenses with the materials and supplies grant?
- No, the grant is primarily for art supplies, musical instruments or other performance related supplies.
-
Can we use the funds for a bus to take us on a field trip?
- Yes, you can.
-
Can you help with identifying an art program or activity?
- Yes, please email us at artsedconnect@sccoe.org and we can assist you.
- Please also visit the SVCreates/ArtsEdConnect website for a list of local arts organizations that provide in class programming, field trips, matinee performances, and other arts related activities for your students.
- Can daycare providers apply for a grant?
- Public and private daycare are not eligible for this grant.
-
What is the start date of the grant and when would the project need to begin to be eligible for funding?
- The grant's start date would begin after the grant award notifications were emailed to each teacher. A teacher has up to five (5) days to accept the award. Any project would need to begin after the acceptance of the award to be eligible for this grant.
During the Grant Period
-
Conditions have changed since I was awarded the grant. Can I make changes to the grant proposal?
- Yes, but you must get prior approval from the ArtsEdConnect Grant Committee in order to move forward with any changes to your proposal. Please email artsedconnectgrant@sccoe.org as soon as possible to get the necessary prior approval.
-
An issue has arisen during the project. Is there a person with whom I can speak at SCCOE?
- Yes, please contact Sofia Fojas at sfojas@sccoe.org and copy artsedconnectgrant@sccoe.org or call (408) 453-6535. She will assist you and answer any questions you may have.
Final Report
-
What do you do with the pictures or other media we submit for the report?
- We use them in marketing materials and share them with funders.
-
What do I do if all or part of the funds are unused?
- The funds may be returned to SCCOE as a check, following the Unspent Funds procedure. The check for the unspent amount must accompany your final report.
-
Can I get an extension if I have not spent all my funds or if I could not execute the project as outlined?
- In the case of unspent funds, there is a process to follow to return any funds not fully spent on the project.
- If you were unable to do the project and it is too close to the end of the year to implement it in your class, the best approach is to return the unspent funds before the final deadline, outlining the difficulties you encountered in moving forward with the project in your final report.
- We do not issue extensions as a rule because we need to account for all spent and unspent funds to our partner SVCreates and their funder at the end of the fiscal year.
- I did not complete the project and need to return the funds. Do I still need to complete the final report? Yes, once funds have been disbursed, a final report indicating the details of any difficulties and an expense report with the indicated unspent funds must be done to complete the grant process.
- My district accounting department is filling out the expense report. Do I still need to turn in a final report? Yes, a final report from the teacher grantee must still be completed to complete the grant process.
-
I need help with completing the final report. Is there someone with whom I can speak? Yes, please contact Sofia Fojas at sfojas@sccoe.org and copy artsedconnectgrant@sccoe.org or call (408) 453-6535. She will assist you and answer any questions you may have.
