After you click the “CLICK HERE” button on this webpage, your browser will initiate the launch of the “VMware Horizon Client” application software installed on your computer. The VMware Horizon Client was pre-installed on your computer (Windows or Mac) by your district IT department. The VMware Horizon Client is the software you will use to connect to your Virtual Desktop hosted at the SCCOE server. (Note: the windows that appear will vary for you, depending on your computer’s default Web browser.)
-With Microsoft Internet Explorer (on Windows computers), you’ll see a “Do you want to allow this website to open a program on your computer?” window:
1. Uncheck the checkbox next to Always ask before opening this type of address.
2. Click Allow.
-With Google Chrome (on Windows and Mac computers), you’ll see an “External Protocol Request” window:
1. Click the checkbox next to Remember my choice for all links of this type.
2. Click Launch Application.
With Mozilla Firefox (on Windows and Mac computers), a “Launch Application” window will appear:
1. Click to select VMware Horizon Client.
2. Click the checkbox next to Remember my choice for vmware-view links.
3. Click OK.
The VMware Horizon Client application preinstalled on your computer by your district IT department will launch on your computer (Windows and Mac).
-You will then see a VMware Horizon login window appear.
When you see the VMware Horizon Client login window:
1. Enter your SCCOE Virtual Desktop login in the “User name:” field.
2. Enter your SCCOE Virtual Desktop password in the “Password:” field.
3. Click Login.
Note: You can refer to the “Welcome to SCCOE Virtual Desktop” email from your IT department if you are unsure about your SCCOE Virtual Desktop login and password information.
If this is the first time you are logging into the VMware Horizon Client to access your SCCOE Virtual Desktop, you will be prompted to change your password.
-The windows appearing will vary slightly depending on whether you are using a Windows or Mac computer.
(For Windows computer users)
If you are using a Windows computer, you will see a “Your password must be changed before logging on” window.
1. Click OK.
Then, on the next “Login” window, enter the following to change your password:
1 - Old Password: this is the temporary password provided by your IT department on the “Welcome to SCCOE Virtual Desktop” email you received.
2 - New Password: this is a new password of your choosing.
3 - Confirm: reenter the new password.
-Then, click Login.
(For Mac computer users)
If you are using a Mac computer, you will see a “Change Password” window appear saying “Your password must be changed before logging on.”
On that “Change Password” window, enter the following to change your password:
1 - Old Password: this is the temporary password provided by your IT department on the “Welcome to SCCOE Virtual Desktop” email you received.
2 - New Password: this is a new password of your choosing.
3 - Confirm: reenter the new password.
-Then, click Continue.
On Mac computers, you will then see a “Disconnect from server?” window. This is normal.
-Go ahead and click Disconnect.
You will then need to re-login to the VMware Horizon Client application. (Your login name should’ve been saved.)
-Enter your NEW password and click Login.
(For Windows and Mac users)
After you’ve changed your password and logged into the VMware View Client, you should be connected to the "qccvdi.sccoe.org" server which hosts your SCCOE Virtual Desktop.
● When you see a window similar to below, double-click the picture of a “computer” labeled QCC-VDI-Districts.
● Your virtual Windows desktop will then begin loading into your client. (The virtual desktop will look like a standard Windows computer desktop, except it will appear within the VMware Horizon Client application.)
After a few moments, you will see your virtual Windows computer desktop appear.
You can then double-click the QCC “Palm Tree” icon to access the QCC software via your SCCOE Virtual Desktop.
-Login to QCC and you will be able to work in the software on your SCCOE Virtual Desktop. (Note: your QCC USERNAME and PASSWORD are not the same as your SCCOE Virtual Desktop account information.)
When you are done using your SCCOE Virtual Desktop:
1) Click Start
-Make sure to click the “Start” on your SCCOE Virtual Desktop, if you are using a physical Windows computer.
2) Click the little right arrow ( à )on the right edge of the button
3) click “Log off”
-You will then return to your physical computer’s desktop.
Notes:
After you complete login to the VMware Horizon Client and launch your “QCC-VDI Districts” virtual desktop, your client software’s configuration will be automatically saved with the correct settings to connect to the SCCOE Virtual Desktop server.
For future sessions, you can access your SCCOE Virtual Desktop using the “VMware Horizon Client” shortcut placed on your physical computer’s desktop by your IT department. You only need to go to this webpage the first time you access your SCCOE Virtual Desktop.
