Santa Clara North West Special Education Local Plan Area (NW SELPA)

The Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) works in collaboration with school districts and the County Office of Education to provide a continuum of programs and services for individuals with disabilities, from birth through age 22. We serve as a resource to the community on matters related to special education.

Santa Clara County is home to two SELPA offices, each focused on creating and coordinating plans to meet the needs of staff, parents, and community members in their respective regions.

Our office specifically works with 21 local education agencies within the boundaries of Northwest Santa Clara County, and we serve well over 16,000 students with disabilities.

Spotlight!

Exciting news! NW SELPA has a brand-new logo - designed by local student talent!

We are proud to announce the upcoming launch of NW SELPA’s new logo - a result of a special collaboration with Monta Vista High School’s Commercial Arts class, part of the Fremont Union High School District.

Led by instructor Mr. Brian Chow, students developed a variety of design proposals. The final selection was created by Sivapriya Sivaji and Tvisha Jain, whose design stood out for its clarity, originality, and alignment with NW SELPA’s mission.

The new logo will be officially rolled out starting with the 2025–26 school year. We thank all the students and staff involved for their creativity and dedication!
