Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) is committed to the development of employees and the belief that education is a lifelong process which improves self-esteem, enhances work performance, and increases career mobility within the organization, thereby helping employees provide better service to the public.
Depending on an employee's bargaining unit agreement, the employee may be eligible to be reimbursed for the cost of tuition, books, and other mandatory fees incurred while completing coursework or training during non-working hours. The employee must be permanent or tenured in order to apply for reimbursement.
The maximum amount that can be claimed varies by bargaining unit. Traveling expenses, parking fees, non-mandatory student body fees, school supplies and other incidental costs cannot be reimbursed. Approval for reimbursement must be obtained prior to the beginning of the course or training that the employee would like considered for reimbursement.
To qualify for reimbursement, an employee must successfully complete coursework or training designed to enhance the education of the employee and is directly related to the employee’s position, duties or occupational area. Each bargaining unit defines what coursework and/or training qualifies for reimbursement.
