SAN JOSE, CA – The Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) is launching a new four-part series of informational articles to help parents for the more than 270,000 students in Santa Clara County's 31 public school districts.
"Navigating Public Schools in Santa Clara County" features different back-to-school topics that will equip parents with information to achieve positive outcomes and maximize opportunities for their children to increase academic achievement during the 2016-17 school year. The first article, out today, focuses on school registration and immunization requirements.
"A student's first and most important teacher is his or her parents or caregivers," said County Superintendent of Schools Jon R. Gundry. "Our goal is to have parents and families be partners in their child's education, and the first step in forming a solid partnership is to assist families in navigating our public schools. In Santa Clara County, we are fortunate to have a wide range of high-quality educational programs to meet the diverse needs of the families we serve."
The articles will be rolled out on the SCCOE website over the next month. In addition, the articles are planned for publication in the Spanish-language El Observador Newspaper and website; and in Vietnamese at Nhật báo Cali Today. Be sure to read our next article on the best ways to get your children ready for school.
