SAN JOSE, CA – The County Superintendent of Schools and the Association of County Educators (ACE) and Psychologists & Social Workers Association (PSW) reached a tentative agreement. A public hearing will be held on Friday, August 5 at 3 pm in the Superintendent's Conference Room at 1290 Ridder Park Drive.
Highlights from the tentative agreements include salary scheduled increases of 5%, 4%, and 3% for the 2016-17, 2017-18, and 2018-19 school years; and an increase cap on medical benefits from $1050 to $1071 monthly, effective October 1. A committee will be convened to study the conversion to tiered medical benefit plans.
"We are pleased to reach a tentative agreement with our two certificated associations," commented Jon R. Gundry, County Superintendent of Schools. "We believe these agreements recognize the important contributions of our staff to serving students, families, and districts in the region while remaining fiscally responsible."
Gundry noted that both agreements do contain contingency language should the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) from the state budget fall below 1%. Other parts of the three-year agreement address longevity and stipends.
