SAN JOSE, CA – The Santa Clara County Committee on School District Organization (County Committee) has a vacancy in Supervisorial District 2. The appointee will serve until the term of office of the vacant seats expires in November 2026.
The primary responsibility of the County Committee is the reorganization of school districts through territory transfers and unification. There are 11 elected members, two members representing the five county supervisorial districts and one at-large member. A candidate will be appointed to the vacant seat by the Santa Clara County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Mary Ann Dewan.
Any eligible person who would like to be considered as a candidate for appointment can submit an application. Applicants must be registered voters and must reside within Supervisorial District 2. Supervisorial District 2 includes most of east county, encompassing all or parts of the following school districts: Alum Rock Union Elementary, Evergreen, Franklin-McKinley, Oak Grove, and San Jose Unified. Applicants can verify residency in Supervisorial District 2 by calling the Santa Clara County Office of Education at (408) 453-3605.
No employee of a Local Education Agency (LEA)/public school district or the Santa Clara County Office of Education may serve on the County Committee. School district board members are eligible to serve so long as they are not also an employee of an LEA or County Office of Education.
Interested individuals are required to submit a letter that includes interests and qualifications for the position, include a minimum of three references, and a resume. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023.
