SAN JOSE, CA – Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) in partnership with the Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits will host a community engagement meeting to explore possible solutions for early care and education and affordable housing needs in Santa Clara County. Currently over 28,000 infants and toddlers and over 6,500 children preschool-age are without care due to lack of facilities.
Attendees will learn more about the
Early Learning Master Plan, identify communities where the need for child care is greatest, and develop an understanding of expansion barriers. The presentation will conclude with a review of the lessons learned through strategic engagements with developers, city/community planning and development officials, and early care and education providers. Best practices and resources for developing housing with co-located child care facilities will be provided.

About the Santa Clara County Office of Education
Working collaboratively with school and community partners, the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) is a regional service agency that provides instructional, business, and technology services to the 31 school districts of Santa Clara County. The County Office of Education directly serves students through special education programs, alternative schools, Head Start and State Preschool programs, migrant education, and Opportunity Youth Academy. The SCCOE also provides academic and fiscal oversight and monitoring to districts in addition to the 21 Santa Clara County Board of Education authorized charter schools.
