SAN JOSE, CA – The dismissal of the lawsuit filed against the Santa Clara County Board of Education marks a positive resolution to the matter. The dismissal reaffirms confidence in the integrity of the Board’s actions and allows us to remain fully focused on our mission—serving and advocating for students across the county. We will continue working to provide the highest quality education and support for our school communities.
Board President Berta emphasized the significance of this decision, stating,"We are pleased that the lawsuit against the Santa Clara County Board of Education has been dismissed. From the start, this case had no merit and should never have been filed because it was completely baseless. Unfortunately, it took a superior court judge denying Dr. Dewan in October to hold her accountable to the community. We remain steadfast in our commitment to serving the ongoing interests of the students, educators, and the community of Santa Clara County and will continue to ensure they are at the forefront of all of our efforts.”
Echoing this statement, Interim Superintendent, Dr. Charles Hinman noted the broader implications of the case stating “Dr. Dewan’s lawsuit against the Santa Clara County Board of Education was without merit from the start and was an attempt to distract from the concerns about the operations of the Office under her tenure. There are still ongoing matters that need to be addressed.”
As the Board moves forward it remains dedicated to fostering a strong, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment for all.
