San Jose, CA - The Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) has launched a toolkit for educators that explores the background, framework, and resources of restorative practices to support educators with inclusionary approaches to discipline. The free toolkit may be downloaded at https://sccoe.to/YouthHealthandWellness.
“We are pleased to share this important resource with educators,” stated Dr. Mary Ann Dewan, County Superintendent of Schools. “This toolkit has been designed as a resource for educators and school staff to support school-wide efforts in implementing restorative practices.”
The resources in this toolkit describe how restorative practices can be implemented in classrooms while providing examples of the impact restorative practices have had in schools across the state and nation. In addition, the toolkit provides a framework for successful restorative practices and models of tiered supports and activities. It can be used as an introduction for educators exploring restorative practices and support the work of teachers already implementing restorative practices in their classrooms.
“Empowering schools and classrooms with tools that promote inclusive, high quality education and support continuity of learning for students is essential,” Dr. Dewan noted.
