SAN JOSE, CA – The Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) acknowledges and extends gratitude for all efforts made to keep students, educators, staff, and families safe throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
“When we all wear masks, participate in COVID-19 testing, and get our vaccinations and boosters, we ensure that in-person instruction, support, and after-school activities can continue,” said Dr. Mary Ann Dewan, County Superintendent of Schools. “I stand with our state’s leading education organizations to keep students and families safe so classrooms can remain open.”
The SCCOE continues to work with partners, such as the Santa Clara County Public Health Department and the California Department of Public Health, for guidance and safety measures to keep schools open and continue in-person instruction - this includes working to get self-administered testing kits to interested school districts when they become available. Universal indoor masking, testing, vaccinations, and boosters are important safety measures that all of us can take to protect our community.
Tests, vaccinations, and boosters are free, do not require health insurance, and immigration status is not asked. Vaccinations in Santa Clara County are available for individuals ages 5 and up and boosters are available for ages 16 and up. Information about vaccinations, boosters, and upcoming clinics can be found at www.sccfreevax.org. For testing sites, please visit www.sccfreetest.org.
