SAN JOSE, CA – On Thursday, March 10, 2022, Berryessa Union School District, Evergreen School District, Gilroy Unified School District, Metropolitan Education District, Mountain View Whisman School District, Santa Clara Unified School District and the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) received multiple awards from the California School Public Relations Association (CalSPRA) for excellent work in communications.
“Through strategic communications around programs, initiatives, and campaigns, the districts within Santa Clara County and the SCCOE have expanded outreach to students, families and community members,” said Dr. Mary Ann Dewan, County Superintendent of Schools. “I commend the accomplishments of all of the staff and their comprehensive campaigns, multimedia and crisis communications, tactics, and diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.”
The CalSPRA promotes better public understanding, commitment, and support of public education. The CalSPRA recognized Santa Clara County School Districts and the SCCOE for the following awards:

Emerging Communication Leader
CalSPRA’s Excellence in Communication Awards program recognizes superior achievement in meeting strategic goals through high-quality communications and public relations programs. Applications are received from among the 600 CalSPRA members representing school districts and county offices from across the state.
“CalSPRA members across California helped lead our school communities through the challenges of this pandemic, providing effective communication in the face of uncertainty,” said CalSPRA President Matthew Jennings.
Each entry is evaluated by communication professionals from across the country on the overall excellence of the entry. Awards were presented at the CalSPRA’s Annual Conference and Awards Banquet on March 10, 2022 in Sacramento.
