To update your beneficiaries, complete the Beneficiary Designation form and submit it to your Benefits Specialist.
All full-time benefited employees are eligible to participate in SCCOE’s group life insurance policy. In an event of your death, Basic Life Insurance pays a lump sum to your Beneficiary. AD&D (Accidental Death & Dismemberment) coverage provides a benefit to you if you suffer from loss of a limb, speech, sight, or hearing, or to your beneficiary if you have a fatal accident. The cost of coverage is paid in full by the Santa Clara County Office of Education.

Short-Term Disability coverage pays you a benefit if you temporarily can't work because of an injury, illness, or maternity leave. Benefits may be reduced by income from other sources such as paid time off (e.g. sick time, donated sick leave, workers compensation temporary disability benefits).
** Employees covered under the CTA bargaining unit agreement are not eligible and may purchase a policy through American Fidelity or The Standard. Please reach out to your Benefits Specialist if you are interested to purchase the policy.
Long Term Disability insurance, offered through The Standard, benefits the financial impact of a disability.
Business Travel AD&D: Business Travel Accident insurance is available to all employees through Mutual of Omaha at no cost. This insurance protects you from accidental death or dismemberment that may occur while traveling on assignment with authorization of the SCCOE.
Business Travel AD & D Summary
Personal AD&D: All employees are covered with a basic $1,000 policy at no cost. This plan, offers employees the opportunity to purchase additional Personal Accident and AD&D benefits. You have an opportunity to purchase coverage for your spouse and/or children.
