SAN JOSE, CA – The Santa Clara County Office of Education, County of Santa Clara Public Health Department and Stanford Children’s Health will host a virtual town hall for families on Monday, November 8, 2021, at 6 p.m. to provide information and answer questions regarding the COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11.
“The SCCOE is providing families with a forum to ask questions and get the information they need regarding the vaccine for their children,” said Dr. Mary Ann Dewan, County Superintendent of Schools, “Getting students vaccinated will allow for continuity of instruction because it reduces the need for isolation and quarantine in addition to protecting the overall health of our students, staff, and families. Some families may have questions about the vaccine. This town hall will give all parents access to experts who can help answer questions.”
In addition to universal masking, vaccines are the leading public health strategy to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in schools and communities. Parents, guardians, school employees, and caregivers are encouraged to attend the virtual town hall to further learn about youth vaccinations. The virtual event will be held on Zoom via the following link: https://sccoe.to/YouthVaxTH. Information will also be available in Spanish, Vietnamese, and American Sign Language.
Additional information on the COVID-19 vaccine and upcoming clinics can be found at www.sccfreevax.org.
