SAN JOSE, CA -- The Orchard School District is pleased to announce Dr. Jeffrey Bowman as the district's next superintendent, effective July 1, 2021. The search was conducted by the Santa Clara County Office of Education and included input from Orchard staff and community.
With a career that spans nearly 20 years in education, Dr. Bowman is a strong operational and collaborative leader with experience in human resources, business services, communications, operations and technology. He has held several leadership positions including teacher, assistant principal, principal, Director of Human Resources, Chief Information Officer and Chief Operations Officer at Cupertino Union School District, where he served for 12 years. Prior to that, Dr. Bowman worked at the San Bruno Park School District.
Dr. Bowman is committed to supporting families, employees and students. He credits his long-standing success as an educational leader to an ability to recognize and value nurturing positive, working relationships through transparent communication that is balanced with the use of data and research.
“I have learned a lot from my time of service working with the Cupertino Union School District. The employees, families and students will always hold a special place in my heart, and I wish them all continued success,” said Dr. Bowman. “I am excited to join the Orchard School District family, and I look forward to working with a community of educators who strive to serve the whole child and have a keen focus on supporting students. I am also looking forward to seeing staff and students bring our campuses back to life as we return to school in-person. We will do great work together at Orchard.“
Dr. Bowman received a Bachelor of Humanities from Menlo College, Atherton, and earned his Master’s Degree in Education from San Francisco State University. He also earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Saint Mary’s College of California, Moraga.
Orchard School District Board President, Stephanie Hill, commented, “The board is delighted to welcome Dr. Bowman as our next superintendent. His experience and focus on students will be an asset to our community.”
A lifetime resident of the Bay Area, Dr. Bowman is a father to two children, a 9-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter. His wife is also an educator in the Bay Area. On weekends, Dr. Bowman coaches baseball and softball for his children’s teams.

Working collaboratively with school and community partners, the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) is a regional service agency that provides instructional, business, and technology services to the 31 school districts of Santa Clara County. The County Office of Education directly serves students through special education programs, alternative schools, Head Start and State Preschool programs, migrant education, and Opportunity Youth Academy. The SCCOE also provides academic and fiscal oversight and monitoring to districts in addition to the 22 Santa Clara County Board of Education authorized charter schools.
