SAN JOSE, CA – The Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) remains fully committed to sustaining the Walden West Outdoor School for students across Santa Clara County. As part of a long‑planned construction and modernization effort, SCCOE has identified Via West as a viable temporary location to host the Walden West program during the 2026–27 school year. The Via West campus is available for lease from September 2026 through May 2027, allowing the program to continue operating while construction is underway at the current site.
Moving forward with this temporary location is contingent upon several required factors, including confirmed participation commitments from districts, completion of required discussions with labor partners, and final execution of a contract with Via West by April 30, 2026.
SCCOE’s long‑term commitment to Walden West is reflected in its decision to invest more than $10 million in facility renovations. For the 2026-27 school year, SCCOE also intends to increase Walden West General Fund support, exceeding $1 million, to facilitate this alternative option.
Additional updates will be shared as planning continues.
