SAN JOSE, CA – The Association of California School Administrators Region 8 (ACSA Region 8) recognized 16 education professionals, a community partner, and a student for their exceptional leadership traits and valuable contributions to education in the region. The honorees were celebrated at the end of April at an annual awards dinner.
“A big congratulations to the winners,” said County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Mary Ann Dewan. “Their work touches the lives of many, and I am appreciative of their collaboration and commitment to students and community.”

Among the local honorees, were two state award winners. The state ACSA selected Region 8’s nominee for the State Partners in Educational Excellence Award, Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian. The state ACSA recognized former San Jose principal, Dr. George Manthey, with the Ferd J. Kiesel Memorial Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor ACSA can present to an individual.
Established in 1971, ACSA is the largest organization for school leaders in the nation, serving more than 16,00 school leaders throughout the Golden State. Among its 19 regions is Region 8 Santa Clara County.
