Revisions to County Committee Bylaws
The Santa Clara County Committee on School District Organization is in the process of revising its Bylaws. In order to accept revisions, the County Committee must post the updated Bylaws for at least 30 days. You can review the revised Bylaws by clicking the above link. The next regular meeting of the County Committee is scheduled for Monday, February 13, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. at the County Office of Education, 1290 Ridder Park Drive where the County Committee is scheduled to take action on the revised bylaws. Functions and Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the County Committee on School District Organization is the reorganization of school districts, through territory transfers and unification. The Committee is also empowered by the Education Code to:
The County Committee is the central initiator, coordinator, facilitator, and arbitrator for these operations. It formulates plans, responds to petitions, conducts public hearings, develops and releases information, and analyzes proposals.
The Committee is subject to the legal requirements expressed in the California Education Code and to policies and regulations of the State Board of Education. County Committees are given significant latitude to address each local situation in its own context.
