On Tuesday, June 20, 2017 the Santa Clara County Committee on School District Organization will hold two public hearings on two separate transfer of territory requests. The
first public hearing begins at 5:30 p.m. and is regarding a one parcel transfer request from Scotts Valley Unified School District to Loma Prieta Joint Union School District and Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District. The
second public hearing is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. and is regarding a six parcel transfer request from Cupertino Union School District and Fremont Union High School District to Saratoga Union School District and Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District.

Functions and Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the County Committee on School District Organization is the reorganization of school districts, through territory transfers and unification. The Committee is also empowered by the Education Code to:
The County Committee is the central initiator, coordinator, facilitator, and arbitrator for these operations. It formulates plans, responds to petitions, conducts public hearings, develops and releases information, and analyzes proposals.
The Committee is subject to the legal requirements expressed in the California Education Code and to policies and regulations of the State Board of Education. County Committees are given significant latitude to address each local situation in its own context.
