SAN JOSE, CA – In the
tenth and final installment of 'Why I Teach', Santa Clara County Teacher of the Year awardees share what makes teaching such a fulfilling career. The video public service announcement (PSA) series serves to inspire others to join the teaching profession.
Claudia Fountain, a music teacher at Vinci Park Elementary School in the Berryessa Union School District, finds satisfaction in sharing her love of music with her students. "I chose to become an instrumental music teacher so I could share the joy of music making with the children."
Fountain is featured alongside Dianna Hill, a teacher at Louise Van Meter Elementary School in the Los Gatos Union School District and Julie Kwok, a teacher at Saratoga Elementary School in the Saratoga Union School District.
The PSA series is one of many efforts on behalf of the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) to address a severe teacher shortage across the South Bay. To help local districts find quality candidates the SCCOE is hosting its annual
Teacher Recruitment Fair on Saturday, March 30.
Credentialed candidates, individuals who will have a credential by fall 2019, individuals with a credential from outside of California, and candidates with at least one year of experience in a teaching intern program are all invited to network with and have questions answered by recruiters and credentials specialists. On-site interviews may also be offered.

The ten-part video PSA series began in January, and can be found on the SCCOE
YouTube channel. The videos were also provided to local cable access channels in various municipalities throughout the county.
