Important Update Regarding Scholarship Applications!
Please note that both the SBMH and MHSPD grants will
end on December 31, 2025, due to the conclusion of federal funding.
The SBMH grant is still accepting applications—until October 1, 2025— for the pathways funded through this grant. Eligible applicants include individuals who either hold a valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC) or are second-year interns placed in a K–12 school setting and actively earning their PPSC. The MHSPD - School Social Worker Pathway is no longer accepting new applications.
Should funding be restored or new opportunities become available, we will update this webpage accordingly.

Pathways for Grantees
As part of its mission, MBHA offers
recruitment and retention scholarships
for school social workers, counselors, psychologists, wellness coaches, and nurses. These scholarships are possible through two groundbreaking initiatives aimed at enhancing mental health services within our community: the
School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) Grant and the
Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration Grant (MHSPD). The scholarships can be used to cover tuition, repay school loans, and help with cost of living expenses, making it easier for professionals to enter and stay in these critical roles.
In addition to financial support, MBHA provides numerous
opportunities for professional development in collaboration with leading professional organizations such as the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), the California Association of School Counselors (CASC), the School Social Work Association of America (SSWAA), and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), among others. These opportunities allow grantees to stay updated on best practices and further enhance their skills in serving students and their communities.
