The Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) is committed to serving, inspiring, and promoting student and public school success.
Strategic campaigns to raise awareness of the overall benefits of education
Meeting the emerging needs of the community by providing leadership and support for children, schools, and the greater community.
A premier service organization.
Fostering respectful, supportive, and inclusive work environments within and across branches, departments, clusters, and sites.
The purpose of Champions for Innovation is to identify current and future leaders from each division, match them with a mentor, and provide them with the skills to effectively develop, lead, and execute projects with innovation at the center.
Permanent employees (certificated and classified) including existing managers, teachers, office staff, classroom staff, and service workers are eligible to participate in this program. Nominees for the program may be self-nominated or nominated by another employee including his/her supervisor, direct report, or any other SCCOE staff member.
The program begins in September with an orientation, followed by monthly virtual and in-person lunch sessions to connect with their colleagues, share their learnings, and gather feedback. Each cohort will grow into a community of innovation, while individually working on self-selected, work-related projects. Participants will work toward a project management certificate to support their project development and completion and will engage in design thinking strategies to imagine and execute dynamic solutions for complex issues. Each cohort member will be paired with a mentor. Mentors include members of the Superintendent's Cabinet and other SCCOE leaders. The program concludes in August with a project showcase.
The program selection process includes a statement of interest and onboarding conversation. Our ultimate goal is to grow leaders from within our organization and to develop staff to their full potential. By doing so, we hope to match the needs of the SCCOE to the career aspirations of individuals.
