Districts and agencies face many challenges in serving their population of youth impacted by the foster care system which may include:
Multiple District/school changes, incomplete academic records, placement status changes, and more
Gaps in communication between partners, including social service agencies, foster families, education rights holders and other school districts
And now, critical funding is tied to the timeliness and accuracy of your data that supports youth in foster care.
FosterVision is an innovative data analytics system that provides data on youth engaged in the Santa Clara County court systems related to educational as well as Child Welfare and Probation information integration. The platform allows staff responsible for supporting the educational outcomes of eligible Youth the ability to easily access and monitor important student data, to better provide intervention to students. FosterVision combines student academic data from the Santa Clara County Office of Education's Data Warehouse and data extracts from Juvenile Probation Department and Department of Family and Children's Services (DFCS).
Approved FosterVision users can get near-real time information about Youth eligible for additional services from a single web-based interface. Educational status, placement changes, and student academic information are available through FosterVision, an integrated data system.
Data in FosterVision is only available for students who are eligible based on criteria of the:
- Dependency Court and/or
- Justice Court
These students are identified via the Juvenile Probation Department (JPD) and Department of Family and Children's Services (DFCS) files that are provided daily and bi-weekly respectively, and matched with student education data from the SCCOE Data Warehouse.
