​​​Tools for Understanding and Assessing the 2012 ELD Standards

Social Climate, Leadership and Instructional Services (SCLIS) has released a set of resources developed to help teachers deconstruct the 2012 English Language Development (ELD) Standards into understandable, teachable language targets and assess and track student progress. We introduced them to many teachers and administrators at our Summit for Educating Long-Term English Learners and Newcomers. The resources consist of two parts: Deconstructing the ELD Standards tool and ELD Standards Assessment Charts.

Visit the CDE website to view the 2014 ELA/ELD Framework that has been developed to support and incorporate the California Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects (CA CCSS for ELA/Literacy) and the California English Language Development Standards (CA ELD Standards). The SBE (California State Board of Education) adopted the ELA/ELD Framework on July 9, 2014.
