SAN JOSE, CA - Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) in partnership with Silicon Valley Community Foundation and San Mateo County Office of Education have established the COVID-19 Education Partnership, designed to support the needs of local county offices of education and school districts in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
“Educators and school personnel are responding to the needs of children and families as a result of the impact of COVID-19,” said Santa Clara County Superintendent, Dr. Mary Ann Dewan. “Schools are striving to provide meals, shift to a distance learning environment, and address new ways to provide services to students and their families.”
The COVID-19 Education Partnership was established to continue to make these services accessible and available. This initiative gives those who wish to support an online channel where they can donate towards the needs of local county offices of education and school districts during this crisis.
Funding will enable local school districts and county offices of education to support immediate needs and longer term recovery efforts related to COVID-19 including the social and emotional health and wellness support for students, families and staff, ongoing distance learning resources, technical assistance and training for teachers and staff, support for students with special needs and multi-language learners, childcare for emergency workers, additional staffing needs and continued and expanded access to meal services.
“School districts and educators are working together successfully to support students and families – and they are rising to the challenges we all continue to face in response to COVID-19,” said Santa Clara County Board of Education President Claudia Rossi. “We will continue this steadfast and focused effort, but we can’t do this alone. Urgent funds are needed now to ensure our students’ needs are met during this crisis.”
A donation can have an immediate impact on students, teachers, districts and the communities within Santa Clara County, leveraging collaborative support from multiple funders such as the Silicon Valley Community Foundation and Genentech. Please consider donating here.
