SAN JOSE, CA - Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) announces new interactive distance learning webinars for educators, students, and parents that are now available on the SCCOE learning resource portal. These webinars feature content that can be used by PreK-12 educators and include both digital and non-digital options for learning at home.
“With the immediate shift to distance learning, teachers are building online environments for students that provide them with meaningful educational experiences to engage them in a creative and productive way,” said Dr. Mary Ann Dewan, County Superintendent of Schools at the Santa Clara County Office of Education. “The SCCOE interactive distance learning webinar offers a skillfully constructed combination of educational, engaging, and social-emotional development learning opportunities that meet and exceed essential grade and course level standards and content.”
Created by the SCCOE Director of Technology Programs & Instructional Support Center, Craig Blackburn and team, these distance learning webinars feature a variety of topics including how to deliver content-specific instruction in a virtual environment, strategies for supporting English learners and students with special needs, as well as fun and engaging ideas to promote teacher and student well-being. “We cannot replace in-person learning, that is the ideal,” said Blackburn. “Developing robust online solutions and resources and removing barriers that make distance learning more accessible is the ideal during school closures.”
Attendees can register for these webinars in advance or view an archived history if unable to attend a scheduled session.
