SCCOE and partners recognize the best in the teaching profession
SAN JOSE, CA – On Thursday, October 3, the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Teacher Recognition Celebration. This annual event honors some of Santa Clara County's best teachers, each selected by their respective school districts. The Teacher Recognition Celebration is the oldest and largest celebration of teachers in California and the most prestigious local award given to classroom teachers.
This gala event will be hosted by Dr. Mary Ann Dewan, County Superintendent of Schools, and Susan Ellenberg, Supervisor, District 4, County of Santa Clara.
In celebration of the golden anniversary, the event will feature student musical acts from Bachrodt Elementary, Sierramont Middle School, and Prospect High School and pay a special tribute to event founder Pauline Lowe. Thirty-one teachers will be honored as their respective district Teacher of the Year. Ten additional teachers will be honored in fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), arts, and civic engagement.
The Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) produces the annual gala with the generous support of community partners such as Texas Instruments, Sixth District PTA, Santa Clara County School Boards Association, and Santa Clara County Federal Credit Union.

About the Santa Clara County Office of Education
Working collaboratively with school and community partners, the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) is a regional service agency that provides instructional, business, and technology services to the 31 school districts of Santa Clara County. The County Office of Education directly serves students through special education programs, alternative schools, Head Start and State Preschool programs, migrant education, and Opportunity Youth Academy. The SCCOE also provides academic and fiscal oversight and monitoring to districts in addition to the 21 Santa Clara County Board of Education authorized charter schools.
