Network & Technical Support Services team supports the technology infrastructure of the Santa Clara County Office of Education. We are committed to delivering robust and reliable services to our internal and external clients. We are responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of all physical networks, servers, desktop computers and communication systems, and for ensuring the availability and performance of mission-critical systems.
Our team also provides computer hardware and software installation and support to the SCCOE’s Ridder Park campus administration and staff, and to all off-site staff and students in Special Education, Alternative Education, Early Learning, and Environmental Education (Walden West).
The scope of services we offer to SCCOE programs and to school districts in Santa Clara County includes:
Over the past year or so, Microsoft has made it clear they would no longer support Windows XP, arguably their most popular operating system. Originally released in 2001, nearly one-fourth of the world’s computers still run this well-liked OS. However, with the recently discovered IE vulnerability (which prompted the US Computer Emergency Readiness Team to encourage users to use alternate browsers) Microsoft has made a surprising about-face.
SBAC Test Field Notes There was only quiet concentration at Snell Community School as the Independent Studies eleventh grade students completed the SBAC exam in Mr. Obed Muzquiz’s classroom. Students completed all three tests which covered ELA, Math, and a Performance Task.
Early this year the Special Ed program began a pilot program with iPads. Forty teachers, representing classrooms with autism to classrooms of students with visual impairments, were chosen to participate. Teachers were expected to use the iPads as a teaching tool instead of a personal device.
Did You Know?: Super Fast! The SCCOE has a 10Gbps incoming circuit which provides internet service to County Office sites and departments, twenty-six local school districts and several other educational entities.
