Mental Health is not the same as thing as mental illness. Mental health like physical health is something that we all have and something that will change throughout our lives. Most of us have experienced a dip in physical well-being, whether it is an acute injury or a more chronic condition. Similarly, most of us will experience a mental health challenge once or more times in our lives.
Positive mental health allows people to realize their abilities, navigate stress in positive ways, work productively, and contribute to their community. It is important for all of us to care for our mental health daily.
One in five adults experience a mental health challenge that impacts day-to-day living. Because the statistics are so high, it is important for all of us to know:

Even though we live in California, surrounded by natural beauty of mountains, forests, desert, and ocean, it's easy to take nature for granted.
The science shows that spending time in nature, whether simply sitting in a yard, going to a park, or engaging in physical activity outdoors, the outdoors boosts mental health and provides other surprising health benefits. Even viewing images of nature or looking out a window to appreciate the outdoors can have a similar effect.
Get your dose of nature with #PixInParks! The County of Santa Clara Parks invites all of us to enjoy the outdoors and learn about seven beautiful parks within our county.
