Non-Competitive CTE Teach Mentor Program Grant
CTE Teach is a program that provides new teacher support to CTE
Teachers in K-12 districts, ROCP’s, community college and charter schools. Colton-Redlands-Yucaipa Regional Occupational
Program and California Department of Education have partnered to offer the CTE
Teach Program throughout California. Teachers from all districts and ROP’s in Santa
Clara and San Benito counties are eligible to participate in the CTE Teach
program. Administration recommends
approval of acceptance of the non-competitive CTE Teach Mentor Program grant. (Dr. Angelica Ramsey)
Since the California Latino School Boards Association (CLSBA) is not
under the pre-approved travel item found in “Addendum to Board Bylaw 9250,”
this item is being brought to the Board for approval for travel reimbursement
of expenditures. Member Green has
expressed an interest in attending this conference in Del Mar, CA.
Since the Funding the Next Generation workshop is not under the
pre-approved travel item found in “Addendum to Board Bylaw 9250,” this item is

Request
Adoption of Resolution in Support of a Strong Start in Early Learning for All
in Santa Clara County (15

An ad hoc committee of the County Board of
Education has been meeting since February 2013 with community leaders regarding
the development of an initiative to increase access to high-quality early
learning services for young children in Santa Clara County. This resolution affirms the Board’s support
for the development of such an initiative and can provide a model for other
organizations to express their support for increasing access to high-quality
early learning for the children of Santa Clara County. Administration recommends adoption of the
resolution in support of a strong start in early learning for all in Santa

One of the priorities for the Santa Clara County Office of Education
(SCCOE) has been to introduce a new division within the Office of the County
Superintendent and led by the Chief Strategy Office, with support from General
Counsel, to monitor and assess all charter schools under the supervision of the
SCCOE. This presentation will provide
the Board with information on goals and responsibilities of the Office of
