Naturally Speaking...
OUR MISSION
To inspire every 5th and 6th grade student in Santa Clara County, to learn
about and experience natural and environmental science, in an outdoor setting,
so that they may come away with a new found respect and knowledge of the natural
world around them:
- Allowing students to participate in a week-long state certified outdoor
science school intensely concentrated in the area of natural science, unlike
anything that can be taught or learned in a traditional classroom setting.
Currently, this type of outdoor programming for 5th and 6th graders in Santa
Clara County is only accessible to one third of our student population.
- Helping students develop the socialization skills acquired from sharing a
weeklong residential school experience with children from varying school
districts throughout the county helps to establish a greater respect and
understanding of all people.
- Providing a forum for students to learn more about our world’s natural
resources, local habitats and the importance of conserving for our future,
instills a sense of commitment to both our local and global environment.
