Q: Who is invited? A: Invitations are sent to each teacher honoree, as well as school principals and district superintendents, school boards, legislators and corporate and community supporters. No ticket or RSVP is required to attend.
Q: Where is the ceremony held, and is parking available?A: The event is held at the Campbell Heritage Theatre, 1 W. Campbell Avenue, Campbell, CA 95008. Ample parking is available in a lot near the Campbell Community Center, which adjoins the theatre. Enter the lot from Campbell Avenue, Winchester Boulevard or Latimer Avenue. Q: What is the event’s schedule?A: An hors d’oeuvres reception begins at 6:15 p.m. Doors into the theatre open at 6:45 p.m. The awards ceremony runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Q: When should teachers arrive the day of the ceremony? A: Teachers should be seated in the Heritage Theatre by 5:30 p.m. for a 30-minute rehearsal and group photograph. Teacher honorees should enter the marked theatre lobby door (doors will not open for the public until 6:45 p.m.) and check in. After the rehearsal is completed, teachers will join the others for hors d’oeuvres. A quick group photograph will be taken on the steps of the theatre around 6:40 p.m.
Q: Must honorees speak at the event or talk to the media? A: The evening of the event, you’ll walk onstage to receive your award, but no speaking required. Journalists might contact honorees before or after the event, and television news crews have sometimes attended the ceremony – but talking to a reporter is at the honorees’ discretion
Q: What food will be served at the reception? A: The reception’s fare includes a variety of food that meets the needs of most vegetarians and those with dietary restrictions. It serves as “dinner” for many who attend the event. If you have specific questions, please contact us.
Q: Can teacher honorees sit with their family? A: Front-row seats are reserved for teacher honorees to allow easy stage access. Everyone else can sit where they like in the theatre.
Q: What is the dress code? A: The ceremony calls for fancier attire. Gentlemen often wear suits or sports jackets with a tie. Ladies usually wear cocktail or long dresses, or dressy evening separates. Keep in mind that the weather is usually cool for the outdoor after-party.
