GLENN W. HOFFMANN AWARDS APPLICATION

October 20, 2010
TO: Board Presidents, Superintendents, and Curriculum Coordinators
FROM: Danielle Cohen, Chris Miller, and Barbara Klausner, Awards Program Chairs
SUBJECT: Applications for 2011 Glenn W. Hoffmann Exemplary Program Awards

Showcase your district and share your success with other educators by participating in the 2011 Glenn W. Hoffmann Exemplary Awards Program. Initiated by the Santa Clara County School Boards Association (SCCSBA) in 1983, the Hoffmann Awards provide recognition for successful district programs that are of either direct or indirect benefit to students. The categories and scoring rubric have changed for this year----there are now ten categories districts can apply for, and four scoring categories----impact on students, innovative/creative, replicable, and sustainable.

You are invited to submit an application for a program in your district that you feel is worthy of commendation. You may re-submit programs that have not previously received an award, especially since the categories and scoring rubric have changed from previous years. A committee of SCCSBA members and educational professionals will review all applications and make visitations during February and March 2011. Award winners will be notified at the end of March. The 2010 Hoffmann Awards will be presented at the SCCSBA's Spring Dinner on Wednesday April 27, 2011. Award winners will be given a cash prize of $500, and the program judged to be the best among all the awardees will be recognized with the Kristi Porter Award and will receive an additional $500.
