Below are a number of sites with information regarding current grant
opportunities, as well as some with financial aid and scholarship information
for individuals (use the Quick Find index to navigate this page). The "Key
Resources for Grantseekers" section will point you towards some of the best
resources on the Internet today, including sites where you can research funders
and learn how to write grants. Good luck!

Key Resources for Grantseekers
CompassPoint Nonprofit Services has
offices in San Francisco and Silicon Valley which offer professional development
(including workshops on writing grants and developing budgets) and comprehensive
consulting services to Northern California nonprofits. Visit their Nonprofit
Development Library, which houses a core collection of materials in areas useful
to grantseekers.
The Foundation Center is your online
gateway to the world of foundation grants. It provides annotated links to
grantmakers on the Internet, as well as information related to fundraising,
upcoming seminars, and library resources. Click

Silicon Valley Funders
is a free, searchable database of funders serving Silicon Valley nonprofit
organizations. Because local funding is often the easiest funding to secure, it
pays to find out who’s giving in the local area: subject areas funded, average
grant amounts, contact information, and more.
Silicon Valley Community Foundation works
to create a strong community by providing grants for various local needs. Their
focus areas are: education and lifelong learning; arts and cultural
participation; self-reliant individuals and families; neighborhoods and civic
engagement; and innovative applications of technology.
SchoolGrants is a comprehensive
source of information for the PK-12 education community. It offers information
on education grant opportunities, tips on writing grants, and free samples of
winning proposals. Sign up on their educators’ listserv, or subscribe to their
bi-weekly newsletter.
Grant Wrangler Grant Wrangler makes it easy
for teachers, librarians, and parents to find funding, including grants and awards for arts,
history, mathematics, science, technology, and more.

Federal Grants
The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance
is the primary source of information about federal grants and nonfinancial
assistance programs. This online site gives you access to a searchable database
of all federal programs available to state and local governments; domestic
public, quasi-public, and private profit and nonprofit organizations and
institutions; specialized groups; and individuals.
The National Endowment for the
Humanities (NEH) site provides links to NEH grants that focus on history,
languages, literature, and other areas of the humanities.
The Federal
Register allows visitors to search daily entries of the Federal Register for
grant announcements.
Congressman
Mike Honda offers a portal to federal and foundation funding.
GrantsNet provides a searchable
index of grants sponsored by the Department of Health and Human Services and
other federal departments.
The U.S. Government Resources
Page provides extensive links to government grant resources in a variety of
topic areas.

Education Grants & Resources
The California Department of
Education's Grant Information page provides applications and guidelines for
state sponsored grants, as well as a list of past recipients of the awards. Sign
up for email updates on grant opportunities. Also check out the CDE's guide to writing effective proposals.
The U.S. Department of Education offers the
"Ed Info: Notices Inviting Applications" listserv that updates
subscribers on grants from the DOE. To subscribe, email listproc@inet.ed.gov
with subject: SUBSCRIBE EDINFO; include your first and last name in the body of
the message. For information on upcoming DOE grants, click

Federal Resources for Educational Excellence
(FREE) was created by more than 30 Federal agencies, including the Library of
Congress, National Archives, Smithsonian, NSF, NASA and the National Endowments
for the Humanities and Arts. This site makes hundreds of Federally-supported
teaching and learning resources easier to find.

Guide to Grant Sources for Educators contains links to a variety of
education grants sponsored by the government, corporations, and foundations.

Math & Science Grants
The National Science
Foundation (NSF) homepage provides links to NSF grant opportunities in the
sciences.

Technology Grants & Resources
CA Technology Assistance Project, Region 5,
lists many funding resources for integrating technology into classroom learning.
eSchool News
School Technology Alert compiles current school technology information aimed
at K-12 technology decision-makers and offers up-to-the-minute listings of
school technology grant opportunities, grant tips and tools, recent grant
awards, and equipment donations. Their School
Technology Buyers Guide is a free online database with comprehensive
information on 3,700 technology companies who sell products and services to the
K-12 school field

Financial Aid & Scholarship Information
Student Financial
Assistance Resources from the U.S. Department of Education is a great portal
to federal financial aid for students, including links to the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Financial
Aid Information. If you're looking for federal money for college, you should
definitely read through the information on the Financial Aid Information page
and visit the links provided there.
FastWeb is a helpful website for
students who are searching for scholarships.
FinAid provides a free, comprehensive,
independent, and objective guide to student financial aid.
Collegiate
Funding - Scholarship Search provides information and access to free
scholarship search engines. Use of these search engines does not guarantee
results, but they are a great resource and starting point for looking into the
scholarship world.

Resources for Nonprofits & Businesses
Nonprofit GENIE is produced by the
California Management Assistance Partnership and contains over 100 free articles
and FAQs on subjects ranging from Board Development to Fundraising to Strategic
Planning to Technology and Volunteer Management. It also lists nonprofit
management support organizations across California.
Nonprofit Gateway is
the U.S. government’s official web portal for resources for nonprofits,
including information on grants, loans and other assistance; fundraising and
outreach; management and operations; tax, registration, and licensing for
nonprofits.
Nonprofit Consultants ONTAP is a free
searchable database of nonprofit consultants in Northern California who work on
issues such as strategic planning, board development, technology, and
fundraising.
Because most grants are designed to help nonprofit organizations, people
running for-profit agencies might be better served looking for Small
Business Assistance. The Federal Small Business Administration does not fund
direct loans, but they do guarantee loans offered by their lending partners,
which helps tens of thousands of small businesses every year get the financing
they wouldn't otherwise qualify for. If you're looking to start up your own
small business, be sure to check out their excellent FAQ
page.
