New trustee areas adopted For
County Board of Education
SAN JOSE, CA – New trustee areas for members of the Santa Clara County Board of Education were adopted on Wednesday by the Santa Clara County Committee on School District Organization.
The committee was unanimous in selecting "Plan 9A" among the alternatives that had been presented for consideration in determining the areas to be represented by the seven members of the Board of Education. A link to the map can be viewed on the website of the County Committee, at http://www.sccoe.org/supandboard/countycommittee/.
After each decennial federal census, the trustee areas must be assessed and potentially adjusted in order to meet legally required population criteria. The County Committee is responsible for the redistricting.
The redistricting will be reflected in the elections taking place this November and in 2014. (The term for County Board of Education trustees is four years, with elections staggered every two years.)
As the elected governing body of the Santa Clara County Office of Education, the board approves the budget and sets policies that guide the organization in providing administrative, instructional and student services to the county's 31 public school districts.
