Public Comment Sought
For County Schools Chief Search
SAN JOSE - The firm contracted by the Santa Clara County Board of Education to
seek candidates for the position of county superintendent of schools
is inviting comment from the public on desired attributes and
qualifications.
Consultants from Leadership Associates are making themselves
available for public input at three sites in mid-January. The sites:
--The Santa Clara County Office of Education, located at 1290 Ridder
Park Drive in San Jose. Consultants will be available there on Jan.
14, 15 and 16 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to receive comments from
individuals and small groups.
--Palo Alto School District Room A, 25 Churchill Ave., Palo Alto, on
Jan. 14 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
-- The Morgan Hill School District Board Room at 15600 Concord
Circle, Morgan Hill, also on Jan. 14 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Those interested in providing comment at any of these three sites
are asked to call 408-453-6652 to make an appointment.
In addition, the Board of Education will hold a special meeting on
Tuesday, January 15 at 5 p.m. at the Ridder Park location. The
meeting will be dedicated to a forum in which members of the public
may give input. No appointment for that meeting is necessary.

The board has set a target of July 1 to have a new superintendent in
place at the SCCOE, which provides instructional, administrative,
human resources, business and technical support services to the
county's 32 school districts. The office has about 1,900 employees
and an annual budget of about $280 million. Joe Fimiani, assistant
superintendent of the COE's Student Services branch, is acting as
