County Committee Seats Filled
SAN JOSE, CA – No election will be held for three open seats on the Santa
Clara County Committee on School District Organization, because only one
candidate filed for each seat.
Seats were to be filled in a November election for Supervisorial Districts 1,
3, and 5.
The candidates who filed for election, and now will assume the seats, were
incumbent Phil Nielsen in District 1, Tanya Freudenberger in District 3, and
Rose Filicetti in District 5.
Freudenberger currently serves on the board of the Alum Rock School District.
Filicetti is the executive director of the Santa Clara County School Boards Association and a past school
district board member. Nielsen has served on the County Committee for seven years and previously served on
the board of the Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District.
The primary responsibilities of the 11-person committee are the
reorganization of school districts (through territory transfers and unification)
and the establishment or rearrangement of governing board trustee areas in the
school districts.
