New County-wide Officers Elected:
Gary Rummelhoff Named President of Board of Education
The Santa Clara County Board of Education on Wednesday elected its officers
for 2007. Gary Rummelhoff, who was elected to the board in 2004, was named
president, and Jane Howard, who won an election in the fall to retain her seat
on the board, was named vice-president.
Gary Rummelhoff is vice president of operations and chief financial officer
at United Way Silicon Valley. He has served on the board's Budget Study
Committee, Head Start Policy Council, and Joint Committee on Child Care. He was
vice-president of the board in 2006, and now takes over the gavel from T.N. Ho.
Jane Howard is the executive director of the Gilroy Visitors Bureau. Her
school board experience includes four years as a Gilroy Unified School District
trustee, including one year as president. She has served on the county board's
Budget Study Committee, Joint Committee on Childcare, and the Regional
Occupational Program-South Committee.
As the elected governing body of the Santa Clara County Office of Education,
the board's seven members approve the budget and set policies that guide the
SCCOE in providing administrative, instructional, and student services to the
county's 32 public school districts.
Other board members include Leon Beauchman, Bill Evers, Craig Mann and Anna
Song.
The board holds regular meetings on the first and third Wednesday of the
month at 5 p.m. in the Board Room of the county office.
More information on all of the board members can be found by going online to www.sccoe.org
