COE Alternative Schools Director
Receives Youth Service Award
SAN JOSE, CA – Paula Mitchell, Director of Alternative Schools for the
SCCOE, has received a "Service to Youth Award" from the San Jose Job Corps.
She will be recognized at a luncheon Friday, Dec. 1.
Kathy Rich of the Job Corps said the award is designed to "honor the
unsung heroes in our community who help guide youth towards success. As role
models and mentors, they inspire and impart confidence in today's youth,
enriching all of our lives."
Paula left the equivalent position at the Monterey COE to come to Santa Clara
County about 3½ years ago. She in involved in JCCASAC-- Juvenile Court,
Community and Alternative Schools Administrators of California. Last year she
was president of the organization.
This is the sixth year of the award. The Job Corps usually honors 5-10 people
a year. This year's event will be held at the San Jose Museum of Art from 11
a.m. to 1 p.m.
