School Districts, Teaching Candidates
Match Up At Annual Recruitment Fair
Districts across Santa Clara County to interview candidates
San Jose, CA—Credentialed teachers seeking a job will mix with
representatives from numerous area school districts on Saturday, March 17 at the
annual Santa Clara County Teacher Recruitment Fair, at the Santa Clara County
Office of Education.
For the last seven years, the Teacher Recruitment Fair has introduced up to
2,000 job-hunters a year to potential employers from districts across the
county. It provides candidates with the opportunity for one-stop shopping in
their hunt, and presents districts with a wide array of potential employees who
already have their qualifications in hand.
To participate in the free job fair, applicants are required to have a
preliminary credential or clear credential, or to have worked as an intern for
one year. Applicants may pre-register on-line at www.sccoe.org.
Candidates who pre-register will be able to enter the recruitment fair when
it starts at 9 a.m. Those who do not pre-register may not enter until 11 a.m.,
and must show their teaching credentials to gain admittance. The event runs
until 2 p.m. at COE, 1290 Ridder Park Dr. in San Jose.
Jobs that are particularly in demand include speech pathologist and teachers
of special education, math, science, and foreign language. Bilingual educators
also are in demand.
The fair is co-sponsored by the Santa Clara County Office of Education and
the Region VIII Association of California School Administrators. For more
information, call (408) 453-6840.
