SAN JOSE, CA – The Santa Clara County Office of Education was one of 17
California organizations to win a prestigious award from the California Council
for Excellence, the council announced this week.
The California Awards for Performance Excellence annually recognize companies
and organizations that have demonstrated superior performance in areas such as
leadership, customer focus, strategic planning and human resources.
"I'm so proud of our staff," said county Superintendent Colleen Wilcox. "It’s
well-deserved recognition of what people here do, day in and day out, to serve
the students of our community."
Applicants for the award undergo a detailed assessment that measures
practices such as leadership, planning, goals and results. CCE examiners visited
the main county office, as well as two school sites. The county office was one
of only three educational organizations to be honored this year.
The CCE, a non-profit based in Poway, patterns the awards after the Malcolm
Baldrige National Award. Award recipients will be honored at the 12th
Annual CAPE ceremony April 7 at the Hyatt Regency Irvine.
