JOB TITLE: Delivery Driver, Lead
DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general supervision, to provide lead supervision over the Delivery Drivers; to adjust routes; to handle complaints regarding the pick up and delivery of film, video and mail; to operate a medium duty step van in the pick up and delivery of educational media materials; to maintain vehicle records; to maintain the inventory or supplies; maintains vehicle records; and to do related work as required.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Assigns routes to drivers
Trains drivers in routes and EMC procedures
Receives complaints and problems and determines solutions
Adjusts routes as necessary due to workload and the addition and deletion of schools
Checks pick up and delivery slips for media materials
Assembles media materials orders
Loads and unloads delivery trucks
Checks films, equipment, and printed materials while loading; delivers material, films/videos as picked up to be sure that they are returned on due-back date
Services vehicle with gas, oil, and other fluids
Inspects vehicles to insure safe operating condition and reports items needing repair
Maintains good public relations with customers
May inspect, clean, and repair media materials
Delivers and picks up pony mail and educational media materials
Recommends budget adjustments and monitors budget expenditures
Maintains vehicle
Maintenance records
Delivers warehouse supplies, equipment and furniture to work/school sites throughout the county in a timely manner, obtains signatures as required
Orders materials from vendors
Monitors safety practices
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education and Experience: Demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak at the level required for successful job performance and any combination of education and experience equivalent to three years of experience at the level of Deliver Driver.
Knowledge of:
Routing procedures
Safety rules and precautions
Supervisory practices
Safe driving practices and traffic laws
Elementary principles of preventive maintenance and methods of lubricating and servicing vehicles
Ability to:
Provide lead supervision
Resolve problems and complaints
Train others
Drive a delivery van safely and efficiently
Follow oral and written directions
Lift up to 50 pounds
Work cooperatively with others.
License or Other Requirements: Possession of an appropriate California operator's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles and have a driving record which meets the standards set forth in Administrative Regulation 4532 and 4533.
