The Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) coordinates with school districts and the County Office of Education to provide a continuum of programs and services for disabled individuals from birth through 22 years of age. We are also available as a resource to the community on issues related to special education.

There are two SELPA Administrative Unit offices, within the boundaries of Santa Clara County, whose role in the SELPAs include involvement in developing a plan for providing and coordinating services, which meet the needs of staff, parents, and community members in the respective regions.
