Supporting Inclusive Practices Project (SIP) assists the California Department of Education (CDE), Special Education Division (SED) in supporting local educational agencies (LEAs) with research, evidence-based practices, training, and technical assistance related to supporting students with disabilities in the least restrictive environments (LRE).
The four phases of this process provides the LEA with tools for Supporting Inclusive Practices (SIP) to assist California local educational agencies (LEAs) in addressing inclusive practices in the LRE. It is recommended that California LEAs select the tool(s) judged to be most appropriate for local use when going through the four phases of this process. Inclusive practices ensure that all students are made to feel welcome at their school and are able to access every aspect of school life. Inclusive practices requires planning, organization, and a structure that supports all students in the school.
