SUCCESS STORY - JESSICA ESQUENAZI
In a recent interview, Jennifer talked about a photography exhibit she had held and about her future plans. For a semester final in her photography class with Michael Sue Brown-Korbel, Jennifer had the option of holding a public art show. She contacted the owners of a local coffee house and asked about arranging a show. After deciding not to use a specific theme for the art, she worked with her instructor and the class to determine the best photos to display. She had the art matted and decided where to hang it in the coffeehouse. At the end of the month, she worked with the coffeehouse owners to plan an evening reception. They developed advertising, provided food and coffee and Jessica spent the evening discussing her works. She sold nine pictures and learned a lot from the show. She stated "It was really neat to have people interested in your work." She learned a lot about entrepreneurship, including that she needed to consider all her expenses before pricing her work. Jessica has taken her photography skills with her to the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco where she will major in Baking and Pastry Arts. "My skills in composition and graphics will be essential in creating eye-appealing foods." She also hopes to get involved professionally in food photography. Two of Jessica's photos have been chosen from 85 entries to appear in the SCROP 05-06 calendar. |
