out for a 10-day loan by contacting Kathy Sealana.
Healthy Eating
Go beyond the food pyramid and labeling guidelines to examine your eating
style. This video examines the myths our culture has built up around eating and
weight, and how they may influence your habits. You will receive easy-to-use
ideas for improving your diet through healthier shopping, cooking, and menu
planning.
Healthy Exercise
This video illustrates that exercise can be part of a normal lifestyle and
that it doesn't have to hurt to be effective. Viewers learn the benefits of
regular exercise and ways to overcome barriers to implementing an exercise
program. Explore the activities you enjoy, then plan ways to make those
activities a regular part of your daily living.
Healthy Stress
Stress can be healthy when it acts as an energizer that spurs us to action.
This video describes physical and emotional reactions to stress and stimulates
viewers to examine their own lives. Assess your stress levels, identify stress
triggers and coping mechanisms, and build a plan to healthfully manage stress.
Personal Best Health Newsletter
Each quarter, (January, April, July, and October), Personal Best health
newsletters are sent to all SCCOE staff. The newsletter contains articles and
helpful tips regarding such topics as healthy eating, exercise, and stress
reduction. In addition, free access to health-related articles are available on
the Personal Best web site http://www.personalbest.com.
Walking Program
The SCCOE Walking Program is intended to promote overall fitness of SCCOE
staff. There are three sessions per year: January-April, May-August, and
September- December. Participants receive a walking packet at the beginning of
each session and record points they receive for walking or jogging. At the end
of each session, the points are tallied and participants receive prizes
sponsored by the Ridder Park Cafeteria Committee. Prizes range from small
