We offer two types of District Trainings in English and/or Spanish. Participants will receive a certificate of completion.
Parent Project Junior with Common Core for grades K-5th
Parent Project Junior is a six-week workshop series for parents of Kinder through 5th grade students. Using a highly interactive format, it combines parenting strategies with Common Core activities so that parents may understand how to lovingly parent and support your child's growth and learning. The research-based parenting curriculum is delivered in a culturally sensitive manner. Additionally, literacy and mathematics materials and games are used to teach parents how to support children through the use of enrichment activities using the Common Core Standards in classrooms and at home. In the last half hour of a 2-hour block, participants visit classrooms, where they facilitate Common Core based activities with small groups of students.
Active Parenting with Common Core for grades 6th-12th
Active Parenting is a six-week workshop series for parents of preadolescents and adolescents in grades 6th - 12th. In an interactive environment, parents learn about the developmental needs of adolescents, effective communication and other strategies they can use to help their teens develop into responsible and courageous adults. The research-based parenting curriculum is delivered in a culturally sensitive manner. Common Core activities are also introduced so that parents may understand the depth of engagement required of their children in Common Core classrooms and thereby better support academic learning at home.
